These statement beads are both made from glass using very different techniques. They make gorgeous stand-alone statements. Imagine a single drop earring!

Both are made by cottage crafters in the Czech Republic. The graphic trapezoid is moulded (pressed) Czech glass. Mechanically little has changed in the production of pressed Czech glass since the 1860s. The moulds allow for more complex shapes to be made compared to the more ancient technique of handmade beads.

The elegant drops are made around a traditional glass mandrel. The fine glass rod is melted over a flame.
